Be it this is not an april fools joke. tomorrow April 1 - May 6, i start a personal cleansing of financial proportions. too many people i know bitch and moan constantly aboot money. it is all i ever hear. so in an act of defiance against that and because i have some things i want to accomplish and because i want to see if i can pull this off.
$100 is all im allowing myself. ive stocked up on food this past weekend. i got shit i can trade around in the art world if needed. gas is not included in the per diem.

Now the age old question of "what do you listen to". Well I honestly listen to alot of music. for some reason daily i listen to strike anywhere, the national, rise against, bloc party, and explosions in the sky. but at night i tend to watch youtube videos of bands. and that brings me to

Then one of the few bands that exist today that I can say play with 200% emotion. every jackass and his sister will throw out the word "passion" to talk about music. and if you show me one band with actual passion ill show you 10000 that think they do but really dont. unless you speak japanese, you are out of luck here. this is ENVY



its funny. there is a local band that covers the next band. they say "they changed my life" well they did that for alot of us waaaaay before your time. you see, alot of us remember seeing this band on 120 min and being blown away. it was something completely different from what we were exposed to at the time. when we found out about their demise, i remember the talks of how bummed we were. we knew they had a pushead 7" to come out and one more song, but that was the end of it. some lads and i worked a foo fighters show at 328 once not because of the ex Nirvana-ness of it all. nope we were more stoked to talk to the srummer and bass player because they were from the band here. Ahh those SDRE dudes. Now in the late 90's the news came that they were back together and holy fuck we were stoked. An entire crew of us packed into Nick's van to Atlanta for the closest show. I think seeing sunny day real estate for the first time could quite be compared to.... i had about 6 more lines typed here, but thats my moment. im not sharing that.

California is stuck in my head?

Ok this is weird. The past week when I finally get to sleep, I always have weird dreams about california! I havent been to fucking cali since last July. I mean I go to sleep and i have dreams with california dreaming as the soundtrack and goin back to cali. seriously, what the fuck in california is calling my name? i mean if i was having dreams about ice cream id go get some soy ice cream and be done with it, but i dont get it. the only person i know there is adam for reals and then there are all my art friends. oh well, i guess ill go listen to the damn beach boys or some shit to figure it out. whatever my head is trying to tell me, ill be there in San Diego in July.

maybe I need to go to SF or LA or something. weird.

New feature. Weekly Music Plug

Ok recently, One or the PeEs asked to do a music review. To plug albums that most here may not know of. Now for those that dont know, there are a few people that send in shit to this blog and they are collectivly known as the PeEs. Now I am not writing these music reviews, the PeEs are. so here is the first which may be many more to come.

"Whats up Ladies and Dude types. I will be doing music plugs every week or so. Now these are not reviews, these are plugs. So you will not see record bashing only hype and kudos in these weekly posts. Now on to the pudding.
I'm writing this on my lap top from the Nashville hipster central mecca known as East-Nasty. Yes, I am currently in the Williamsburg of Nashville. Why am I in Hipster central? Well because I was supposed to have a study group with some classmates, and I failed to set my clock properly, thus by the time I got here they had disbanded. Now I am sitting in this hipster filled fuckfest doing something I had planned to do for months.
I bring you a band with a goth name but non goth music aka VAMPIRE WEEKEND
Get ready this NY band kicked it on SNL recently and I missed it, now get ready for this pseudo indie pop. I mean this band is the definition of what "college" rock used to be like. I can imagine this band opening for the pixies and countless Chapel Hill bands. Actually it is fitting im in Nashville's Wburg because I think this band is from there too. Now the jangly guitars and simple almost 50's and 60's throwback might make Nashville Muzac snobs think the Strokes and bullshit like that, but the Strokes are crap and Vampire Weekend rocks it.

PRODUCT WARNING FROM POW

Ladies and Gentlemen,

It has come to our attention that a number of forged Banksy prints are currently in circulation. These include 'Rude Copper', 'Laugh Now...', 'Happy Choppers', 'Girl With Balloon' and 'I Fought The Law'. They are screenprinted, numbered and embossed with a replica POW stamp.

The forged prints have been allocated print numbers registered to specific retailers that POW supplied some years ago and are sold alongside bogus receipts from these retailers. Only a handful of these have so far come to our attention and they are easily identified as fake by anyone familiar with POW products, but please be aware that buying prints on the secondary market at bargain prices should be undertaken with extreme caution.

We have passed this matter onto the relevant authorities and are, as always, happy to check the provenance of your print if you contact the office.

This week im posting two bands for youtube tuesday.
first by far one of my favorite bands of all time by the name of 400 years. i got to see them 3 or 4 times here in nashville. i dont really remember right now because my head is in the bin. anyway, 3 songs from their final show finally on youttube.
its kinda funny how kids today will drop the words "emo" or "screamo" so loosely. well this is what sorta was and this is better than any of the bullshit that tries to hold that title these days.

then a band that still exists from the rotten apple called the national.

Today alone i had 5 people ask me to spill what flows in my head. knowing that i dont talk to people much, nor open up. the reason i just explained to someone is... ehh fuck it. no matter.
what i was aboot to get at, is that i look at 86986 art pages a day and i consume my damn skull with things, and i see lots and lots of photography and most is just rubbish and rhetoric. the pics above are some from probably one of the top photographers ive ever seen. and these are just the ones i own. and since people want to know alot about my head, its one of the few things i have left that once belonged to the greatest person ive ever known. its a bond or something i just must hold on to. the only things that remind me of my existance.
