Frosty

To get in the holiday spirit, how aboot some Justin Degarmo?

I look at numerous sites a day and stumble across multitudes of artists and things I have never heard of. Justin is an example this morning. His concept illustrations are great, not too into the painting side of his work. www.justidegarmo.com
I cant embed this because youtube wont let me.
It is a great take on classic album covers. I think I started watching this at one point and had to stop because my boss walked in.
It is worksafe

Is it just me or does Nathan ota's work look alot like Soto, Craola, and Fontana?

Dining Review

WOODLANDS VEGETARIAN INDIAN3415 W End Ave # 101B
Nashville, TN 37203

After several months of not eating here out of pure laziness, I finally made it down for dinner. My compadre Sara went along with me, and since both of us are vegan, why not. Most Indian places in Nashville are really good and some are less accomidating to my dietary practices (cough sitar cough), but Woodlands was simply badass. The menu was huge and detailed. Indian dishes I have never heard of at other places around town. I got a curry veggie koofta dish HOT. It wasnt as hot as I wanted to clear up my head, but still yumster. My friend got an eggplant dish that was ever so spiced perfectly. The owners talked to us for a bit and were very helpful when I asked about cream in the dish. Overall I give it a A+, the only downfall is that there were so many things on the menu I wanted to try and I couldnt.
This just means I need to go back.

Untitled this Friday

skip your parties and go to the UNTITLED show this Friday
UNTITLED ARTISTS GROUP PRESENTS WINTER SHOW 2006: MISSILETOE

On Friday, December 15, Nashville's Untitled artists' group invites you to our 2006 Winter show, MISSILETOE. This one-night-only art event will be held at Lucky's Garage at 14th and Church Street and will feature new painting, photography, sculpture and mixed media from some of the city's most innovative visual artists.

Untitled is comprised of over several hundred Nashville artists, including exhibiting artists and staff from Zeitgeist, Dangenart, Plowhaus, Twist Gallery, (fov) gallery and others as well as art faculty and students from Watkins College of Art and Design, Belmont University, Vanderbilt University and MTSU. MISSILETOE is the latest in a series of wildly successful quarterly exhibitions including BLOOM, HEAT and CONCRETE.

MISSILETOE (yes, "missile") will take place December 15 from 6 to 10 p.m. at Lucky's Garage. Admission is free, and the public is invited to meet and mingle with the artists and view their work while enjoying a cash bar, music by DJ Cosmo Shitay, and complimentary snacks. At 10:00 PM the art comes down and the volume goes up for Friday night dancing at Lucky's. Patrons may purchase artwork by cash, check or charge and may take their pieces home with them at 10:PM that evening.

Founded in 1991, Untitled is a non-profit organization dedicated to offering alternative visual arts experiences in the Nashville community. The artists are a culturally diverse group working democratically outside the traditional gallery scene. Recent shows have featured hundreds of artists and have attracted thousands of attendees.

For more information about MISSILETOE or the Untitled Artists' Group and its programs to support and promote the visual arts, please visit our website, www.untitlednashville.org , or email info@untitlednashville.org.

Dunny madness amigo

Dunnys are so hit or miss these days, but then Kidrobot drops a bomb on the Vinyl community with the release of the Azteca Dunny series in January. Sweet as hell designs that will probably drive the collectors mad! I'm into most of these designs and cant wait to see the chase versions that havent been leaked yet.

From Kidrobot
Azteca Dunny Series
$5.95 each, available from Kidrobot retail locations and www.kidrobot.com and select retailers worldwide

Curated by Headquarter in Mexico City, the Azteca Dunny series showcases some of the hottest names in Mexican art, fashion, graphic design, music, and industrial design. The series is comprised of 19 tequila fueled designs in total. A unique collaboration of this magnitude comes very rarely, so grab ‘em while you can!

Bigfoot

I was reading my new Juxtapoz last night and saw an Ipath Bigfoot skate shoe. Now Bigfoot I kinda find amusing and Ipath are known to make good vegan footwear, and if you combine the two, I guess I get funny footwear. Anyway, the new color for the Ipath Bigfoot is not too bad but not vegan either. I couldnt find an image online so until i scan it, here is what the old one looked like.

Heiko Mueller

I am loving the work of Heiko Mueller. A new artist for me to look into. Never heard of him before until today, so VERY NICE.
go to the page link at the bottom and read his bio along witht eh paintings. It is very interesting thought pattern he is trying to express.
Then when you read that and look at the work, you can actually see the poin the is trying to make quite well!

  • MUELLER MUELLER
  • Snoopy goes Spidey

Have you ever thought to yourself what the Peanuts gang would be like as super heroes?

    Toki Doki

Toki Doki now have some New Era hats ont he market. as always the designs are pretty damn nice, but 70 clams for a hat is out of my budget.

Make sure you bend the bill because if you dont, you look like a tool
  • Toki Doki Hats

  • speaking of Toki doki. A friend informed me of a scam on ebay and I know some people that fell for it. The Toki Doki tshirts come with hair clips or pins FREE. DO NOT buy them seperate, if someone is selling them indiviually, you are getting scammed
I met a kid this weekend who was busting at the sides because of Urban Outfitters opening a store in Green Hells. I know some people that will just be stoked they can get Dunnys at an inflated price.

More people are stoked on Anthropolgy moving into the same facility.

Jessica, emailed me this link (below) that has some interesting facts about Tim Biskup. I had the pleasure of meeting Tim a few times and have a few pieces of his vinyl work in my own collection. The dude is super nice and I watched him sketch for a friend and honestly, it was one of the oddest things ive ever seen how he holds the pen and does his work.
Interesting read, so check it out
