Han

Thomas Han's "pushers" series painted prototypes have now been shown at Vinylpulse. For some reason, I dont dig them as much now, I was hoping for more solid colors.
The prototypes at the SDCC looked fabulous tho.

Being vegan in Nashville is actualy easy, but we lack 100% vegan dining establishments.
A couple weeks back, I went to Chattanooga to check some things out and one of them was Country Life all veg restaurant. This place totally lived up to expectations. Even dined there with a non veg friend who could not tell the difference in the lasagna being vegan from normal lasagna.

    Tigers on the streets

    This is really cool.
A form of art I would like to see or actually imitate with Dalek Space Monkeys or who knows what.
    Taken directly from Karolina Sobeca

"At night projections from moving cars are shone on the buildings downtown. Each car projects a video of a wild animal. The animal’s movements are programmed to correspond to the speed of the car: as the car moves, the animal runs along it speeding up and slowing down with the car, as the car stops, the animal stops also. The framerate of the movie corresponds to the speed of the wheel rotation, picked up by a sensor. If the presence of a moving object (such as another car or pedestrian) is detected with proximity sensors, its animal "avatar" appears in the projection.
For the ZeroOne ISEA2006 I will be using one vehicle with a projection of a tiger (additional animals will appear in the projection as reflections of passing vehicles and pedestrians).
Projection disappears and flickers as it is supported by the architecture. The city itself is an active partner in creating this alter ego.
We are elevated from the everyday reality through this element of fantasy into a world with more dimensions, possibilities and perhaps beauty."

Here is a video of the greatness

BTW, the new 5YL will be about $200 at OF... sho nuff. The KAWS head that comes with the Kun will "most likely" be part of an artist series from Medicom..."

    Rise Above

I just got an invite to something I cant go to, but regardless, it will be a great show.
    SHEPARD FAIREY, “RISE ABOVE”
    September 16 – October 14, 2006

    Merry Karnowsky Gallery
    Solo Exhibition
    September 16th through October 14th, 2006
    Opening Reception: September 16th, 8-11pm
    170 South La Brea Ave
    Los Angeles, CA 90036
    www.mkgallery.com
"In Shepard Fairey’s newest exhibition titled Rise Above the artist continues a highly charged visual discourse that attempts to reveal and skewer abuses of power, governmental hypocrisy, and loss of civil liberties. Inspired by one of Fairey’s favorite punk bands, Black Flag, the title refers to lyrics that call for people who are dissatisfied with the system to rise above the problems to provoke change, or work outside of it. “Jealous cowards try to control... rise above, we're gonna rise above”. Peace advocacy and the questioning of power and authority are dominant themes.

The exhibition will feature politically charged screen-print, stencil, and hand collaged mixed media art works which use metaphor, humor, and seductively stylized elements to deliver beautiful, provocative results. The works blur the perceived barriers between propaganda and escapist decoration, political responsibility and humor, all with the intent to stimulate both viscerally and intellectually."
