Kathie Olivas S2 Scavengers
from mindstyle
"Fans and collectors everywhere are calling MINDstyle's SCAVENGERS by Kathie Olivas -- one of the hottest mini figure series of the year; setting new standards for art toy collectibles. The quality, detailing and coloring are amazing and the box design is impressive.
Each figure comes blind box packaged, carefully wrapped in bubble wrapped and sealed in a black plastic bag. The packaging comes complete in a gift box with magnetic closure and an outer o-card sleeve.
Based on Kathie Olivas' original paintings, the highly anticipated SCAVENGERS mini figure series 2 will be released next month. Inspired by early American portraiture that often depicted children as small adults in an idealized new land, the characters parallel this vision within their own sense of post-apocalyptic conformity, uniquely documenting their own stories in a mysterious brave new world.
The Scavengers Series 2 hunt begins this October and being such a hot item... they won't be available for long! How long? Not long!!!

102.9 the buzz soapbox
Ok so seeing something today made me get back on this rant. 102.9 supposidly plays "everything that rocks" but alas they dont. maybe 1/5 of this crappy station plays something that rocks, but most of the time its what ever crap the record label is pushing for top spins and adds. Sorry but Tantric,Seether, saving able, etc... DO NOT ROCK. its crappy redneck shit. hell if you wanna play shit that rocks and actually do something different try what thunder 94 did years ago or look or FM94 in san diego. these stations play new bands, good bands, and actual music that rocks.
damn im glad i got an ipod.

Dok A doin it for the people
Dok A is doing comission pieces for people for a short time. Rad deal and from a great guy
The drawings will all be on watercolor paper and the ink will be indian ink if used ( i may also chuck in the odd splash of acrylic paint if I feel the need…) Each drawing will be in the 6″ x 6″ to 8″ x 8″ size range.
I am rubbish at portraiture likenesses, so best not go there. Characters are one thing.. I could do you a Hellboy or a Batman or whatever but i couldnt to a recognisable Jonny Depp…

this sucks: photos rant via dave
A friend of mine is getting married here after the new year and he has found a nice little annoying fuck of a problem that sucks. you see if you look at the 20-35 year old age bracket, and lets just go ahead and say SCENE KIDS, there isnt a professional GOOD photographer out there in Nashville. Everything is from these "music" industry wannabes that are not from the same demographic or background as us. There are plenty of people like my friend in this town that are 20 somethings, dont make 100K a year, and arent rocking abercrombie and driving the SUV their dad purchased for them. No just normal blokes fromt he scene that want good professional photos. Do we have that? Fuck no! the reason I bring this up, is my friend just got a few quotes/meetings with some local shutterbugs and a small and dinky amount of 4K was the quote last night. This does not include the actual album. this sucks ass! I wont mention the name of the person in town, but thats not happening! My friend Beth did this up north. and her work rules, and she is totally down with people im used to. but she moved to aussie land. anyway. this sucks. that reminds me i wanna suggest to my friend to have cupcakes for the grooms cake haha
Candice Tripp
the other night i was looking at some work and found something that caught my eye. no not the normal douchebags that we all make fun of that leave the sticker son their hats with flatbrims that totally look like they stepped off the shortbus.
work by Candice Tripp. which of course i cant get any since its all sold out at the moment. (unlesss....)
anyway, her website www.candicetripp.com doesnt give much detail aboot her but displays the art very nicely. all I can tell you is from her site
"In 2004 Candice Tripp left her home, Cape Town, South Africa, to settle in London. A mere 18 months later she moved to Newcastle upon Tyne. For a boy.
She has a high school education, a cat and a filthy mouth.
Her pronunciation of the word "yoghurt" causes upset in her social circle."
but lemme show you what caught my eye

WOLVERINES make a day better
some days you realize you dont really belong anywhere and hope maybe you can find your place. then you watch red dawn and remember
books
im still on my non fiction kick with books. going from one to another. i have tons i need to finish but my mind is all over
my new book THREE CUPS OF TEA
not because i drink alot of tea but because
Three Cups of Tea is one of the most remarkable adventure stories of our time. Greg Mortenson’s dangerous and difficult quest to build schools in the wildest parts of Pakistan and Afghanistan is not only a thrilling read, it’s proof that one ordinary person, with the right combination of character and determination, really can change the world.” -Tom Brokaw
by the way
this is cheaper at TARGET. it will run you 12 bucks
